Best way to deal with funky betta water?

My friend was looking after (or supposed to be) my betta while I was away for 3 months. I got back yesterday and my betta does not look so good, laying on the sand. My friend confesses he never changed the water! What is the best way to go about this? Do I put the fish in a smaller tank and completely clean his tank and refill with all fresh water? (His tank is a 5 gallon Eclipse - so has a bio-wheel - and fish has been in same tank for 2 years, it is heavily live planted and heated to 80 degrees) Or would a complete clean like that be a shock to his system, and should I just change like 20% a day? I really want the fish to live as he was my first. Any advice appreciated.

So, im starting a garden close to my condo, right up against the wall actually. It's shady around there for most of the day. I have never gardened before so I need a lot of help. When you're looking at listings like these, does it typically mean $4000/month or $4000/year. Kyle,I don't know the name of the plant(which is actually a vine)BUT-it looks an awful lot like mine,& some friends too.IF it is what it seems to be;-wait a min,i have a book,-i'll get you the name.Seems it's definitely a type of "Cissus".Anyway,I know these plants well.It's a creeper,either pot will be fine.Keeping it in the big pot allows for you to put a long slab of a piece of tree bark for it to climb on,(this is how a lot of stores that sell plants like to display it).Or you can just let it grow,& when it gets long(by which time it will surely grow another vine or 2 from the bottom),it makes a lovely accent to anyplace you want to lay it.You can make it look as if it's trailing the top of an entertainment center,bookshelf,across the tops of a group of pictures;I've even sen it be the border at the top of entire rooms.Here's the way to care for it,& by the way;It certainly IS worth saving! You must get it out of direct sunlight.This is a plant whose origins are from climbing trees in rainforests,so it doesn't like to be hot either.It does like to be indoor,with good drainage(water till soil is wet,NOT completely soaked,& avoid watering again until soil is dry to the touch on top.Allow just a few hours of morning light,or better yet,-diffused light for half the day.once this baby is growing well,it will keep doing well,even in a windowless room,-as long as it's not in complete darkness all the time it will make you proud.So my best advise for what to do now,& for the next month is;"Don't mess with re-potting(as this will shock it a bit),Get it in the house in a place of little light,let it get used to the difference in atmosphere,when it seems happy for about 2 weeks,-then re pot.If room is an issue,& you must re-pot,try to put up with it for at least a week.This plant will prove itself to be lovely,fairly fast growing,& easy care in the end.Good luck,& enjoy!

Help identify my plant?

My plant is one that i got from my sisters school, the science labs were having a clear out and i ended up with a tropical plant, it has a stem of about a centimeter thick and arrow shaped jagged leaves, on each of the serrated edges of the leaves it grows a seedling, probably about 50 seedlings on a bigger leaf. If you knock the plant slightly these seedlings fall off and as they already have two leaves and a few roots they start to grow bigger within days. Kind of an odd plant but I've had it for a long time and I want to know what it is. Help?

Excel Formula Help please!?

I am working on a spreadsheet for work and its is for billing purposes. I want to be able to have excel calculate the total minutes between start and stop times for appointments but is there a way it can only count 15 minute increments? For example- Start Time: 1:30 Stop Time: 2:30 which is 60 minutes in between. At my work, we bill "ONE UNIT PER 15 minutes" so that 60 minutes equals 3 units. BUT here is my dilemma, excel is counting the minutes in between the two times just fine but when i divide by 15 it does not round down it rounds up. We cannot bill that way, so even if an appointment time goes over a few minutes but doesn't hit a 15 minute increment, we do not count it as a unit. So what i am looking for is a formula that counts every 15 minutes between times OR a way to get the total of minutes in between to equal multiples of 15 minutes. Why do people think I'm a chump and soft?

Everywhere I go I get singled out and people try to mess with me. Asians, Arabs, Latinos, and Indians are friendly to me, but blacks and whites try to herb me alot, by talking down to me and trying to single me out. I don't know if It is my appearance I'm big and tall, but soft featured black 20 years old kid, humble, well mannered, well groomed, and just a tiny bit shy. I have a big body Im 6'2" 240 lbs,but Im solid in good shape, practice good hygiene, nice to everyone, avoid confrontation and try to live life, walk with confidence, but people always try and test me for some reason. Especially women I don't if it my soft appearance, but in actuality I'm not soft I've been through alot in my life, and I have alot of pent up anger, and the outside I look nice, but on the inside I'm very angry but people don't tend to see it, I also don't try and mask my anxieties and stresses with mind altering substances such as drugs or alcohol, my body is clear but my mind is not. I think people can pick up this and they intentionally try to bring the monster out of me.

The Legend of Zelda handheld games easier now?

Starting from Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons, and Oracle of Ages. In all of those games, you swing your sword in 90 degrees increments (like to the right of you, to in front of you). Also, your weapon selection is nice and big. On the Minish Cap, you're able to swing you're sword in 180 degrees increments (to the right of you, all the way to the left) which makes the game easier, but the weapons selection is still pretty good. But now, with the DS games, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit tracks, you can just tap an enemy with the touch screen, and it automaticaly hits the enemy. And the weapon selection? It's terrible, pathetic even, on Zelda standards. But you're thinking: "Oh, well its the DS, they should implement touch screen controlls." In my opinion, not if it makes the game ridiculously easy, and ruins the Zelda experience. So, do you think Zelda handheld games have gotten easier? And if so, how?

First off, you need to stop doing activities that cause you to stress over them. It seems as though you have an OCD type stress that causes you to over think your situations. It matters the time of the year. But the answer was most likely meteorites. When they plummet to earth, they cause disturbances in the atmosphere, and in a chain reaction, disturbances in the magnetic field, causing the aurora to form a shock wave pattern were the meteorites entered the atmosphere. A meteor show may have been going on, causing all of different shock waves. Nothing to worry about, because the Aurora is beautiful. :)

Abelia Tips: How to get it very large?

I just bought an Abelia. I planted it along a fence line. I would like it to grow as large as possible to add some privacy between me & the neighbor. I know with weed, if you cut the tips off it will sprout 2+ new branches/canes. Does this concept work w/ flowering bushes and/or trees? The gardener I bought it from said it should grow 6' tall, but w/ research I've found that it can grow up to 12' tall. I'd like to get it about 8'. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I am having a photographer come to our house and she told me on the phone months ago that she charges $100. When I called her a month ago to arrange the date she said her price is $150. I agreed and asked if I will be charged more if we go over her hour session. Everyone has their own opinion. I am from a pretty small town, and I think it's wrong. Our school is known for it's traditions amd for being humble and almost everyone is against it. We have to buy our uniforms, which are polos. The bugs probably came with the plants when you bought them. Disposing of them was the right thing to do. They are probably the critters we call "white flies". Once they invade a plant there is no hope for revival. Here in east Texas cilantro,chives,onions,and dill start to die off in the late spring/early summer.The "tarragon" you referred to is more likely an herb called Mexican mint marigold. It doesn't do well in the summer either. But don't discard it or the chives ,when the weather cools down they'll start growing again (perennials). I suggest you get another parsley. They grow for 2 years - a real thing of beauty. It is my favorite herb to grow!

Ok so I took my dog on a walk the other day and we went behind an old abondoned building and there were some weird plants back there. sevin liquid would work .. but do it in midday and try to chase most of the bees off with a water hose before you do it because you can wipe them out pretty quick especially if you do it when the flowers are open early .. best and most economical way to use the sevin liquid is to mix it yourself in a pump up sprayer and dont try to make it strong .. mix it on the weak side, it doesnt have to be full strength to waste those bugs ..

Currently, I mix up all their stuff in a shotglass at night with a little water to thin it and syringe it to them in 1 mL increments once every ten minutes to avoid upsetting their stomachs, but it takes over an hour and is stressful for them. There are opportunities where your sims have to go to certain places like a bookstore but the building is the one in Sunset Valley and is replaced by a different building in Bridgeport. I've tried putting the same buildings in Bridgeport but it never recognized them for the opportunity. Is there a way to fix it or does the patch fix it? I haven't installed any patches yet for sims 3. I gave up trying to do those ones but now I have an opportunity for the omni plant and I don't want to lose it if I can fix it.

Tingling then light numbness in right ear?

Hi, I recently went to a very loud restaurant and later had some strong tingling inside my right ear, the ear was in pain the following day so I kept it sealed with cotton. Later I did a hearing test and was about 8" from the speaker at 25% volume, a tone going for 2 second increments at 15khz gave me a ringing in my other ear but the right ear couldn't hear it. How do I make a proper American style beef burger?

The tastiest way to cook burgers is on the BBQ, but pan frying works well too. For each burger, use 6-8 oz. of ground beef. The best burgers do contain some fat, so try to purchase chopped/minced beef that is 75-80% lean. Serve on hamburger buns or rolls with lettuce, sliced tomato and sliced onion, or not. you don't need to change all the water, just do 25% when changing and unless your over feeding you shouldn't have to clean everything off. Sometimes it's over kill on feeding and water changing can make them sick. A betta can live in a mud hole. They are strong fish in other words. The thing with these are you don't know the age of the fish and some times they're just old. If he's building his nest and all seems fine then he probably is great. Make sure he don't have ick, white spots on him. I always turn power off and clean my filter then I do a water change of 25% or up to 50 if your water is really dirty. The Bacteria base is in the gravel and should be ok.

Do you think Richard Rahl/Cypher is a Gary Stu? In the first three books, I thought he was the s#!+, but my opinion of him has changed a lot since then. I'm currently reading The Pillars of Creation, so I haven't finished the series yet and he may have this big flaw I haven't read about yet... but my Gary Stu senses have been tingling lately. He was made out to be humble, kind, honest, strong, intelligent, handsome, an awesome swordsman, and then all of a sudden he finds out he's a wizard too! Not only is he a wizard, he's a wizard with both additive and subtractive powers, pretty much the potential to be the strongest being in the world! Not only that, women are constantly fawning over him! Though, I should also add that he seems to have lost his modesty somewhat. I actually kind of think he is arrogant in the later books. In one of the books he was preaching about morality throughout nearly the entire thing - I seriously got the feeling that I was reading John Galt's speech all over again. Anyway... I don't mean to bash the series or anything - I still enjoy reading the books to an extent - but does anyone have the same feelings as me? Activated abilities during Combat phase?

This is for the trading card game Magic the Gathering. I have a question about the usage of instants and activated abilities during combat. Say, for example I have Tangle Angler equipped with Infiltration Lens and I declare it as my attacker. My opponent, who doesn't want me to draw two cards by blocking with his creature, chooses not to declare any blockers and pass priority to me. Is this the part in which I could play instants like Giant Growth onto my Tangle Angler to deal massive damage to my opponent? During this increment of time, could I use Tangle Angler's activated ability to force my opponent to block with his creature(s) so I could draw cards?

What kind of plant is this?

ive seen this plant around multiple times as a child and i saw one the other day and am curious to know what it is. it had a white flower that of a poison hemlock but it doesnt have the leaves of it. it grows to be about 12 inches or more. and has little green stems that grow off of it.

I have 5 hibiscus plants that look great, and has many buds, but will not flower. It doesn't even drop the bud?

instead they keep growing more. Should I cut the buds off to make room for healthy new ones? I water & feed them with acidic fertilizer & have them in different locations through out the yard. I also have a hibiscus tree that was beautiful in my house all winter & that is looking sick & not flowering outside either. Trying to create a growth loop in java?

In java, I'm completing a class for a game that creates circles and makes them grow at a certain rate until they reach their maximum radius and pop, unless the user clicks on the circle to pop it themselves. the rest of the program is written, however the class i need to write is the one which creates the circles and defines the growth amount. I have gotten through creating circle based on given points and radii, with a grow method that states the current radius becomes the starting radius + growth amount. however, I can't figure out how to loop the circle back to the grow method IF the current radius hasn't reached its given pop radius. I was required to create a boolean method that answers the question "has the circle popped?". Do i need to create a loop within this method or declare it somewhere else? how do i return to the grow method if it hasn't popped? I'm not sure about the actual time increments, I can play with that after i get the program running, i just need to get the growth function working (i can start using an increment of 1000ms).

School ended for me yesterday and I was a Freshmen. I'm one of those kids that think having 3 girlfriends/boyfriends a year is pointless and almost always used just to fit in. I have only had 1 girlfriend my life and that was in 7th grade, and there was no real love, just curiosity I suppose. Anyway, this year I found a girl I really found attractive, not only in looks but I knew she would only be a good influence on me, hardworking , athletic and the person that does the right thing etc. She was the only girl I was interested in the whole year, and I knew she wasn't the most popular girl (don't think this the wrong way) and such, resulting that not many boys would go after her, and me hoping I had a chance. I had gone after her the whole year but eventually had little hope left, so I planned that if I became great friends with her by next year, and so on, that a relationship could spark ( we were already pretty good friends). I wasn't planning on going after any other girl, she was like my "dream" girl you could say. I asked her to homecoming and she said yes but her parents didn't even let her go to the dance :( . I wanted to show her my feeling just to see if I did have a chance, so I wrote a cheesy poem and secretly put it in her bag. She had acted the same towards me so I assumed she read it and didn't like me, or didn't get it. Recently she gave me her number which excited me, and especially did when we texted 3 days straight, with her always being the first to text me. She brought up the poem and said she wanted to start out "slow," and get to know me. We kept texting, and I tried not to be annoying and we talked about each other's interests/ hobbies. I'm not in this relationship for sex, as I'm too young anyway. Yesterday she left to go on a 2 week cruise and I'm constantly trying to stop thinking of her, because then I know when she finally decides if she wants a relationship I won't be completely devastated if it's no. Would a -1.5 or -2.0 lens in a scuba mask lens work for me if my glasses are -1.75?

I am going to learn to scuba dive but I can't wear glasses and my eyes are not right for contacts. I have been looking at optical lens for scuba masks but they only come in .5 increments. I let my first love slip away from me?

it was the end of my highschool career, i had only been going to this new shcool for one year and i had always loved this one girl who was in atleast 4 of my classes. i never built up courage to talk to her and because i was new i had no one that knew her, as the end of the year approached i started feeling sad about never seeing her again so i decided to tell her how i felt at graduation. know that i have never actualy talked to this girl and i was just taking a lucky shot at telling her how i felt after the graduation alone. i told her she was beautiful and that it wouldnt feel right going into the real world with out conquroing something that made me nervous, she was flattered and thanked me and said i was real nice for saying such kind words to some one who could use them. i never expected anything to happen, simply because we barely knew each other and the fact were going to different colleges but i cant help but shake the fact that if i had the courage i had today to talk to her in the beggining of the year i would be with her right now and happy. i look back on it and i regret not doing so early. but all this taught me a GREAT lesson, i will NEVER put off talking to a chick whom i like/love, i feel like there is an empty spot in my heart but it was supose to happen for me to learn this lesson. i try to forget her but i always think about her and it makes me sick. i feel brave that i told her how i felt, and humbled but still hurt that i never got hte chance with her. is it ok to feel this way?
