Is my teacher honest with me? Could he possibly like me as a woman?

Im 17 and i changed schools this year. last year there was this teacher, a man about 48 years old and he was so good at his job and he has always been close to his students cause he is like a big child, and he is so cute:) this year he and some of my last year classmates worked all year and took part in a robotics competition. after that he, the other kids and me went out in a caffeteria and just talked and i told him he is still young inside... when me and another friend of mine were the only ones left, he told us that he was touched about what i said before and that he wanted to tell us a secret.. he started telling us about his wife has been cheating on him and they are going to take a divorce but they are still living together.. they have 5 kids, and they all want to be with him not with her but he has no money.. he told us he is devastated cause he has to start from the beginning... anyway that are the basic things he said.. it was kinda weird but i'm a bit suspicious cause he could have told us all these because he likes highschool kids... i guess i'm wrong, cause he seemed honest and he's generally humble and generous and good and lovely... i don't know... i just want to avoid feeling like an idiot for comforting him if he is not honest.. and still if he is i want to provide him help... what do you think?
